Step 1: Is your microphone working?

You must make sure your microphone is working correctly by recording your voice using the sound recorder.

To record your voice, run the sound recorder in Windows 95:

1. Click on Start

2. Point Programs

3. Point Accessories

4. Point Multimedia

5. Click on  sound recorder and record your voice.

   1. Click on the red dot to start recording and speak into the microphone.

   2. The green line should widen when you speak.

   3. Then Click on the pause button to stop the recording.

   4. Click teh play button to hear your voice.

If you can't record, stop and check your recording volume as follows:

1. Click on the little yellow speaker at the lower right of your screen.

2. Then open the Options menu and choose properties
   

3. In the Properties box, select Adjust volume for Recording and check the microphone checkbox.   Click OK

4. In the Recording Control dialog box, adjust the microphone volume control slider to the middle or three-quarters and check the Select checkbox.

5. Done! Record your voice to check that all is working.

6. If step 2 works, so will your ClickTel.

Step 2: Configuring your Clicktel

Locate the "CALL" button in the directory, right mouse click on this button. Choose the setting command from the list.

To set the speed:

• Choose bandwidth
• Choose your modem 14.4kb, 28.8kb or higher connection speed.
• To test your microphone, choose audio setting,
• Press on test and speak into the microphone.

To set the "time before idle", while speaking, check the time delay before you hear an echo of your voice. The correct setting is to have an echo as soon as possible.

Try placing the control near the "i" in "time" on the screen.

This will ensure best results with ClickTel.

Step 3: Making a call

ClickTel now works.

Press the "Call" button and the phone will ring. Just enjoy your telephone conversation.

Etape 4: Radio style Communication?

If you can't speak at the same time as your party or interrupt them, that is, only one person can speak at a time, there are three possible causes:

• Your sound card is improperly configured
• You must download the proper audio driver for your sound card
• You are too polite   : )
